
Along the coastline of the eastern seaboard, centered around Jomtien and Pattaya, you will find an exotic beach area with guest houses, luxury hotels, a large selection of restaurants and large shopping malls. More important to the visiting golfer, there are 23 golf courses within easy reach of your hotel and another 2 will open this year. Our latest addition, Pleasant Valley, opened in february 2009. About 4 of our golf courses are of championship standard. Laem Chabang, Jack Nicklaus excellent golf course, is always voted the best and most popular golf course in our area. However, LPGA tournaments were held at Siam Country - the old and the new Plantation courses, in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Beside these courses, you have a choice of an additional 20 courses where the green fee varies between 500 and 1,500 Thai baht, about half of what you would pay in places like Hua Hin and Phuket in Thailand.
As late as 1970, there were only some 30 golf courses in Thailand and the real expansion occurred during the years 1990-1996. However, this late development has in no way been a disadvantage. Rather, developers have been able to take advantage of modern ideas regarding golf course architecture and construction techniques. As a result, Thailand is in a unique position in that it can offer its visitors golf courses of the highest quality, many of championship standard. There are now more than 200 golf courses, many designed and built by the well known names mentioned above.
Jomtien Beach is a popular beach resort on Thailand's southeast coast, 120 km southeast of Bangkok and little more than a 1 hour drive from the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Within a radius of 40 km around Jomtien, there are 24 golf courses. During our high tourist season from November through February you will need the assistance of an experienced golf tour company in order to secure convenient tee times because the more popular courses will be booked out weeks in advance.

In Thailand, you can play golf all year long. November-February is our high season with pleasant temperatures and a cool monsoon breeze sweeping in over our coast from the Indian Ocean. Mars-June can is the hot season and temperatures can be very high during the middle of the day. From June onwards, we have frequent rain showers that cool the temperatures. The Thais call these seasons the cold, hot and rain seasons respectively However, the so called "rain season" is more distinct in the north of the country and here on the southeast coast the showers are usually of short duration.
